Disturbing attempted child abduction on a Melbourne tram

A tram passenger has has intervened to stop a boy from being abducted from a tram in Box Hill.

The young boy was travelling on the 109 tram near Elgar Road at about 3.45pm yesterday when an unknown man grabbed him and attempted to drag him from the tram.

A female passenger intervened, pulling the child back onboard.

The man fled on foot, heading towards Box Hill Central.

His identity remain unknown.

The boy suffered no physical injuries in the disturbing attempted abduction.
