Doctor tells Neil Mitchell forget the headlines, eat bacon if it makes you happy
It’s simple – being happy is more important that watching your calories.
That means if eating bacon makes you happy, it’s better for you than giving it up.
Cardiologist Dr Ross Walker told Neil Mitchell it’s all about ‘sensible living.’
‘I’m sick of the health police telling us ‘you can’t do this, you can’t do that’,’ Dr Walker said on Monday.
‘The best drug on the planet is happiness.’
He said people should ignore ‘scare-mongering headlines’.
‘You can wangle statistics to make them sound scarier than they actually are.’
Dr Walker’s comments follow reports that eating black toast increases the risk of cancer.
‘You’ve got to put this stuff into perspective,’ he said, noting that even a kilo of toast contains a safe amount of the cancer-causing chemical acrylamide.
‘Who’s going to eat a kilo of toast?!’
