Doctor’s concerns with the extension of e-scooter trials in Melbourne and Ballarat

Heidi Murphy

The state government recently extended e-scooter trials in Melbourne and Ballarat for a further six months, with a doctor expressing his concerns for the safety of the public.

The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons is warning preventable deaths, serious injuries, and cases of permanent disability will increase as a result of this extension.

Dr David Read, member of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), believes there is a problem with the culture of the use of e-scooters in the state, and wants the government to conduct an urgent review into the trials.
