Dog owner shares devastating details of fatal husky attack
A dog owner has been left devastated after his Italian greyhound was killed by a husky at Footscray.
The terrifying incident happened on April 9.
Marcus Tansing told 3AW Mornings he was taking his dog, Gia, for a walk when he felt the lead “go up in the air”.
“This husky had Gia in its mouth, the lead broke, I went and punched the dog,” he explained.
But the damage was done.
Marcus said he was still in the dark about the attacker’s situation, with the husky involved not with its owner at the time of the attack.
“I’m not sure if it was a (dog) walker, or a friend,” he said.
Marcus said he was under the impression the dog had been impounded by council, but is worried what may happen if it’s not destroyed.
“The aggressive nature and how quickly it happened… there is no way that was a placid dog,” he said.
