Beloved pet dog put down after being stabbed multiple times in Dandenong backyard
A dog has been stabbed in the backyard of a Dandenong home overnight.
Police say the 11-year-old dog, a Maltese shih tzu cross Jack Russell, suffered numerous stab wounds.
Vuk the dog was found seriously injured in the backyard of his home on Fifth Avenue between 2am and 5am this morning.
Detective Sergeant Nick Lamb from Dandenong CIU said there was no clear motive behind the attack.
“At this stage it’s unknown, and we are exploring all possibilities,” he told Tom Elliott.
“The dog has been stabbed twice. The family are very upset, they’ve had the dog for 11 years and to find it in these circumstances this morning they are very upset about that.”
The owners tried to take Vuk to a vet, but found the tyres on their car has been slashed.
The dog was taken to the vet later and had to be put down.

Victoria Police have clarified the dog’s name is Vuk, after earlier referring to the dog as Buk.
