Donald Trump and Malcolm Turnbull brush off hostile phone call reports as ‘fake news’

Donald Trump and Malcolm Turnbull have brushed off reports of a hostile January phone call as ‘fake news.’

The US President met with the Australian Prime Minister in New York.

Mr Trump says the controversial refugee exchange deal is on, despite the now infamous phone call between the two leaders.

‘We had a very, very good call,’ Mr Trump said.

‘It (the reports) was a little bit of fake news.’

Mr Trump says he plans to visit Australia.

‘That’ll happen,’ he said.

‘It’s one of the great, great places.

‘It’s one of the most beautiful places on earth.

‘I’ve so many friends there. I’ll be there.’
