Burns surgeon at The Alfred Hospital, Dr Dane Holden, says there’s recently been a worrying increase in the number of tradies presenting at hospital with concrete burns.

“Normally we see maybe one a month but we’ve seen five or six this month,” he told Neil Mitchell.

“Concrete can cause a chemical reaction to the skin which can progress to a skin injury that requires an operation.”
