Dozens of strangers will attend a funeral at Springvale today for a man they’ve never met.

Company director at Botanical Funerals Shirlene Alison told Ross and Russ Michael Purcell lived in Australia for 50 years on his own as his entire family lived in Ireland.

“I thought I’d get in touch with Community Pete … and so we put the message out, and literally within ten minutes, we had so many people contacting us,” she said.

“It just goes to show how beautiful people really are during this difficult time,” she added.
