Dr Gail Iles examines the Daylesford creek bed discovery!

Dr Gail Iles admits she’s “back on the fence” whether the fascinating discovery made by a prospector in a Daylesford creek bed is actually a meteorite!

Oscar Vastag found a 586 grams piece of rock earlier this month which he believed was a meteorite.

He went back to the site of the find today and found more than a dozen other similar rocks.

He’s since sent it to Dr Iles and she’s going to get it examined at the synchrotron in Clayton.
