Dramatic rescue after man drives off cliff in state’s southwest
There’s been a dramatic rescue in the state’s south west overnight after a man drove off a cliff and survived.
CFA and SES members including high angle rescue specialists had to be lowered down a cliff face near Portland to rescue a male driver.
Police were called to Hanlan Parade (pictured above) at about 12:30 this morning after a vehicle ran off a road and veered over a cliff.
The car came to stop on its roof on a ledge about 50 metres above rocks and the water’s edge.
A 61 year-old man from Portland suffered extensive injuries to his torso and face and was flown to the Alfred hospital in a stable condition for treatment.
