Dreamworld cancels plans to re-open on Friday

LATEST: Dreamworld will not re-open tomorrow for a planned memorial day in the wake of the tragic ride accident that killed four people.

The Gold Coast theme park had been planning to partially re-open tomorrow but Queensland Police advised management not to open the park as investigations continue.

In a statement, Dreamworld said the coronial investigation was of the ‘utmost importance’.

The ride at the centre of a deadly incident will remain closed until the conclusion of a coronial inquest.

Ardent Leisure Group CEO Deborah Thomas addressed the media at the AGM today, and said the company offered its deepest and heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends of the victims.

‘As this incident is the subject of a coronial investigation there is very little I can say today, expect that we are fully cooperating and working closely with the authorities to establish exactly how this has happened,’ she said.

Many people are continuing to lay flowers and tributes at the entrance of the park.
