Driver thrown after trying to stop offenders stealing from his van at Bayswater
RUMOUR CONFIRMED: ‘Stand and Deliver’ told The Rumour File a delivery driver, who caught thieves rummaging through his truck, was left grazed after trying to stop them.
A delivery van driver left his vehicle outside a fast food restaurant on Dorset Road in Bayswater at 5.45am on Tuesday.
When he came out he saw several offenders going through his truck.
They got out of his truck and jumped back into their car.
The victim ran to the car and leaned in the open window, desperately trying to get his bag and mobile phone back.
The driver then took off, throwing the victim to the road and grazing his arms and face, he did not require hospital treatment.
Matthew Baldyga was the delivery driver, he told 3AW’s Justin and Kate the offender’s getaway car was stolen during a recent home invasion.
‘They had no consideration for anyone else on the road.’
He tells 3AW Breakfast, ‘They looked like they were heavily affected on drugs.’
Manningham Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested two offenders.
An 18-years-old from Mount Evelyn and a 16-year-old from Bayswater have been charged with armed robbery, robbery and assault charges.
The 18-year-old was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
The 16-year-old was remanded and will appear at a children’s court.
