Drug drivers far outweighing drink drivers in Latrobe Valley

State Highway Patrol have nabbed 34 drug drivers over one weekend in the Latrobe Valley, but the stat that jumped out at Ross and John, was that just two drink drivers were caught.

Ross asked Inspector John Cormack if these results surprised him.

“Unfortunately not, we’ve had similar results in other towns such as Shepparton, Bendigo, Ballarat, it’s a common theme,” he said.

“It’s a focus for us in the bush.

“Methamphetamine is a big drug for us, big detections, but also cannabis is one we come across regularly.”

• 8 disqualified/suspended drivers

• 8 seatbelts offences

• 104 other offences
