Drug that can melt cancerous blood cells approved in US

A Melbourne-developed drug that is able to melt away certain blood cancer cells has been approved in the US.

The drug is called Venetoclax, when used in trials has seen full cancer remission in 20 per cent of patients.

The drug will be used overseas outside clinical trials but has yet to be approved within Australia.
