The earthquake that hit Victoria in 2021 has led to the discovery of a previously unknown fault line.

But a structural engineer has reassured Victorians that buildings constructed in the state since 1995 should have been designed to comply with the earthquake code.

The 5.9 magnitude quake hit Woods Point at a depth of about 15 kilometres in September, 2021, but was felt in Melbourne while Tony Jones was live on-air, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
