Ed Sheeran has testified in a US federal court over plagiarism allegations.

The heirs of the co-writer of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On’ have brought on the lawsuit, claiming Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ copies a four-chord sequence and the song’s rhythm.

Melbourne barrister Matt Collins KC told Ross and Russel “there’s nothing wrong … if you independently and innocently come up with something that’s strikingly similar to someone else’s work”.
