Eddie McGuire lifts lid on Essendon’s favourable Marvel Stadium deal

Former Collingwood president Eddie McGuire has lifted the lid on Essendon’s favourable deal at Marvel Stadium.

His comments come as the likes of Essendon and Carlton continue to push for more games at the larger capacity MCG.

Eddie says as a result of the Bombers being the original tenant of the Docklands venue, they were given a highly lucrative contract when the stadium opened in 2000.

“The Bombers have a favoured nations deal at Marvel Stadium because they are an anchor tenant,” he said on the Eddie and Jimmy podcast.

“If you buy a Geelong jumper in the (Marvel Stadium) shop, Essendon gets a cut.”
