Tom Elliott
Article image for EDITORIAL: We should not have to compensate taxi license holders

The government is set to legalise ride sharing, allowing taxi companies to set their own fares and introduce a one dollar ‘fairness fund’ to compensate taxi licence owners.

Compensation could end up costing as much as $800 million dollars and passengers will be forced to pay a 1 dollar levy for every ride.

Tom Elliott says – ‘We should not be bailing people out using tax payers money.’

‘Should we have compensation for newspapers? Should we have compensation for radio?’

‘The answer is no, technology is progress’ – Tom said on 3AW Drive.
