The Australian Education Union says they will continue to advise members to follow the order’s of the Chief Health Officer, but avoided saying they back mandatory vaccinations.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will now be mandated for teachers and staff at every Victorian school and childcare centre.

Every worker will have to have their first dose by October 18 and their second by November 29.

Meredith Peace, Australian Education Union Victorian Branch President, says they’ll continue to follow the advice.

“The health advice released today was that staff in our schools and also in our early childhood settings are going to be required to be vaccinated,” she told Heidi Murphy on 3AW Drive.

“And we’ll tell our members they need to follow that public health advice.”
