Eight car pile up at Laverton causes huge traffic backlog

Traffic has come to a standstill after an eight car pile up south-west of the city.

Two inbound lanes are closed, near Railway Avenue, on the Princes Freeway following the crash at Laverton.

Paramedics have assessed five patients.

Traffic is backed up for kilometres past the scene.
