RED HOT TIP CONFIRMED

A generous elderly couple have helped out 82 families doing it tough with a remarkable act of kindness.

The pair walked into Toyworld in Bendigo yesterday and paid off 82 lay-buys in full.

Toyworld Bendigo manager Debra said the elderly pair aren’t rich, they’re just generous.

“They just wanted to change some people’s lives … and it was their turn to be able to give back,” she told Neil Mitchell.

“When they were a young couple they had a lot of hardship at Christmas and they explained to me that one year of their lives they were so desperate they had to go to a local St Luke’s, which is like St Vinnies, because they couldn’t afford to buy anything for their kids.

“These two beautiful people just wanted to change as many lives as they could.”

One of the 82 people who had his lay-buy paid off is a father of twins who are having their birthday next week.

He only had $5 in his bank account and didn’t know how he was going to be able to afford birthday presents.

Debra said the reaction she got from the father, and many others like him, when she phoned to share the good news gave her “goosebumps”.
