Elderly victim of brutal bashing left concussed after wild Hawthorn East party

A man in his 70s has been attacked multiple times after a wild party at an Air BnB rental property in Hawthorn East on the weekend.

The house in Hastings Road was left trashed, with graffiti sprayed on the walls with the words “Black Boyz” and windows smashed in.

The 73-year-old man, who did not want to be named, told Nick McCallum on 3AW Drive he had little memory of what happened but stepped in when he saw a neighbour being confronted by the group as he left for work around 5.30am.

“The sad truth is I can’t remember, but apparently my neighbour was in the street having some serious discussion with a group of lads who had been in this party and she was on the verge being assaulted, and apparently, and I’ve heard this second hand, I went to her aid,” he said.

“I took a severe beating and was concussed, so I have no recollection of that encounter.

“Apparently I was on the ground and being kicked and beaten when the neighbour managed to scream and yell at them to leave.”

As a citizen, how much longer do we have to put up with this nonsense? – Victim of brutal bashing

The man, who had lost consciousness, had his wallet stolen before the offenders fled.

As he woke, he tried to get his wallet back when he was set upon by a gang of young women and took another round of punches and kicks.

“The next thing I remember is waking up in an ambulance on my way to The Alfred hospital,” he said.

Police are investigating.
