Elderly woman left badly injured after bizarre incident at Southland
A woman has been charged over a cowardly assault on a 93-year-old woman at Southland Shopping Centre.
The alleged victim suffered a broken hip and wrist and will be in hospital for Christmas following the attack on Friday morning.
Neil told 3AW’s Tony Jones he and his mother were walking back to the carpark when the woman started shouting abuse.
‘She holds my arm as we are walking along, a woman was coming the other way, she looked up at us and started screaming about old people,’ he said.
‘She turned and barged between us, pushing my mother over.
‘I cannot imagine a person doing something like this,’ Neil told 3AW Mornings on Wednesday.
Police say a 38-year-old Mordialloc woman handed herself in to police Thursday morning.
She’s been bailed to appear in court on a single charge of recklessly cause serious injury in March 2017.
