Elsternwick students will have to wait for air conditioning
Grade 5 and 6 students at Elsternwick Primary School will have to wait for air conditioning.
10-year-old activist Tilly Bowman told Neil Mitchell on Wednesday some classrooms can reach 36 degrees in the warmer months.
The school can’t afford to put in air conditioning, having allocated its resources to restoring an old school hall.
And the Victorian School Building Authority also won’t pitch in the $25,000 required.
VSBA CEO Chris Keating told Neil schools in the north of the state are more likely to have air conditioning.
“We try to get a balance of cost and comfort,” Mr Keating said.
Mr Keating said air conditioning is on the school’s list of priorities, and encouraged Tilly to keep up her advocacy.
