Emerald resident details storm devastation as power lines remain on roads
An Emerald resident has detailed supermarkets are running out of food and power lines remain on roads three days after deadly storms hit parts of Victoria hard.
Alkira Glamping’s Emily Stygall says Tuesday’s storm was the third storm in two years that’s hit the town really hard.
“I don’t know how much more we can take, it’s not just Emerald, it’s the surrounding Emerald towns as well,” she told Jacqui Felgate.

She also says it’s not just the lack of electricity hurting the town.
“It’s not just the loss of power which is killing people’s businesses, we’ve got no wi-fi, we’ve got no phone reception, we can’t keep living like this,” she said.
She says no one has any idea when they’ll see their power restored and the town needs someone to come out.
“Nobody has even come out to assess any of our locations … we walked the streets last night, not one emergency service anywhere,” she said.
