Grave fears held after helicopter ‘disappears’ north of Melbourne

Five people are feared dead after a helicopter crash north of Melbourne.

It’s understood two helicopters were flying in convoy over Mt Disappointment on Thursday morning when one “disappeared” from sight.

Ambulance Victoria confirmed it was called to reports of an “aviation incident” shortly after 9.30am on Thursday.

Dozens of emergency crews are at the scene.

9 News reporter Lana Murphy told 3AW a crash site had been located from the air.

“Now they’re trying to get to the site,” she said.
