Extensive flooding throughout the state has seen the SES assist in 26 flood rescues.

SES State Duty Officer, Lauren Dewalidt, says Victorians should avoid being in flood areas if possible.

“If you can avoid being trapped by flood water, i.e driving into it, please don’t, 26 flood rescues is 26 too many,” she told 3AW Mornings

Water Police have assisted in the boat rescue of residents from more than 20 flooded houses around the Goornong and Redesdale areas.

It’s believed at least another 30 houses have been inundated with water.

The Midland Highway is currently closed due to flooding.

V/Line trains are also unable to operate due to water on the tracks.
