Emergency workers under attack: Cop head-butted, female paramedic punched
Details have emerged of two new attacks on emergency services workers, including one on a police officer this morning.
A female paramedic was punched by a drunk and drugged man who she was rushing to hospital.
The assault occurred after police and paramedics were called to help a drug-crazed man on Brighton St, Frankston South on June 8, the Herald Sun reports.
She sustained minor injuries.
And in the most recent incident, a police officer was taken to hospital this morning after being headbutted by an alleged thief.
Police had chased down the man, 38, after he was spotted with a stolen motorcycle at Heller Street in Brunswick West about 1.20am.
Once caught, the man, who was wearing a helmet, allegedly head-butted a male senior constable.
Attacks on emergency services workers have become a political fireball in recent weeks, five months out from a state election.
Both parties have vowed to enforce a crackdown.
