The boss of one of Australia’s energy companies has admitted prices are too high and the sector has to do better.

Managing director of Momentum Energy Paul Geason spoke with Neil this morning, ahead of a meeting with the Prime Minister.

The meeting between power companies and the PM is to discuss power prices and improvements for consumers.

Neil raised with Mr Geason that some customers are paying up to $ 1500 a year too much on their bills.

“I think it’s outrageous,” Mr Geason said.

“The really disappointing thing is that there are lower prices out there for those consumers they just struggle to be able to find them.”

He also floated the idea of ending discounts and offering the best available low price at all times.

“I think it’s something that may support activity around how we do a better job as a sector,” he said.
