‘Equal say’ family law to be abolished
Equal shared responsibility — a legal presumption created in 2006 — will be abolished in a bid to simplify family law.
Accredited family law specialist Caroline Counsel says that while replacing the Howard era reform will “reposition” important factors such as family violence, a concern is that families will misunderstand the changes.
“What worries me is every time we turn families into political footballs, they misunderstand the situation,” she told Ross and Russel.
