Ex-cop tells Nick McCallum a safe injecting room in Richmond would save lives

A former policeman is advocating for a safe injecting room in Richmond.

Greg Denham, who is now the CEO of the Yarra Drug and Health Forum, told Nick McCallum they will save lives.

Mr Denham told the story of one woman who overdosed on heroin in a fast-food restaurant’s bathroom.

He said she would still be alive if she’d had a safer space.

‘I don’t think there’s much doubt about that,’ he said.
