Exciting times ahead for Essendon
It’s barely a surprise that Essendon has just the one win to its name this season and a tough year was to be expected.
What has been impressive and at times surprising, is the resilience and effort the team has shown in trying circumstances.
Dwayne Russell has seen enough this year to indicate an exciting time ahead for the Bombers.
‘This year’s done, it was a horrible year… We know the circumstance, but next year’s exciting,’ Russell said on Sports Today.
‘I can’t wait to see what Essendon deliver round one next year.’
‘I love watching Essendon at the moment because they try their guts out for four quarters.’
Club legend Matthew Lloyd believes that finals are a realistic shot next season, but it’s not time to get too carried away just yet.
‘I reckon the best (finish) would be around eighth (on the ladder),’ Lloyd said.
‘What I’ve been really pleased with, is they come to every game with passion and they’re hunting to win.’
Essendon face Brisbane this weekend, which will be both team’s best opportunity to get their second win this season.
