EXCLUSIVE: $15 million in funding for SES in Victorian budget

By LAUREN HILBERT

EXCLUSIVE: Victoria’s state budget will include a major shakeup of how the State Emergency Service is funded.

Currently Councils and the Victorian Government jointly fund the SES, but since the government introduced rate-capping many councils have raised issues with the funding arrangement.

Tomorrow’s state budget will include $15 million to support the SES.

The money will cover the operational costs of SES units and assist with long term leases for stations located on council land.

Meanwhile, Health and Education are expected to be among the big winners when the budget is delivered after midday.

$174 million will go towards an elective surgery blitz, helping 200,000 Victorians get surgery sooner.

Stay tuned to 3AW tomorrow to stay up-to-date with how the state budget will affect you…
