‘Expecting’ employees to retire as early as 55 ‘absolutely’ in breach of the law

Revelations some leading law and accounting firms expect employees to retire at 65 or even earlier has come under scrutiny on 3AW Drive.

It’s even been branded “unlawful” by the managing director at McDonald Murholme Barristers and Solicitors.

“Absolutely,” Alan McDonald said when asked if it breached the age discrimination act.

“There’s a lot of good social reasons for keeping people on.”
