Explosion forces the evacuation of Thomastown factory

An explosion has caused the evacuation of a factory in Thomastown.

Fire crews were called at 1.20pm after reports of heavy smoke and an explosion.

The factory had a number of solvents and chemicals inside.

Firefighters remain at the scene, although the fire is under control.

The 24 workers were evacuated safely.

Ambulance Victoria are also on scene.
