Family of Rodney Miller ‘not too worried’ by IBAC investigation into conviction of Jason Roberts

Victoria’s corruption watchdog is remaining tight-lipped about a reported investigation into police conduct leading to the conviction of Jason Roberts for the 1998 shooting murders of police officers Sergeant Gary Silk and Senior Constable Rod Miller.

But the family of Senior Constable Miller believe justice has already been done.

The Herald Sun revealed on Tuesday the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission was conducting a secret probe into at least four police officers who were involved in the murder probe, which identified Bandali Debs and his daughter’s boyfriend, Roberts, as the culprits.

3AW Mornings contacted Victoria Police and the Police Association, who both said they were unaware of any investigation.

Neil Mitchell’s senior producer, Heidi Murphy, spoke with Carmel Arthur ? formerly Carmel Miller ? who said it was the ‘first she’d heard’ of any investigation.

‘She said she wasn’t too worried about it because she believes justice was done originally,’ she explained.

‘But it’s distressing for the family to have it come back up again and have a fuss being made around it, with the potential of having it re-opened.’
