Family of six flees Ascot Vale fire

A family of six has been forced to flee a burning unit at Ascot Vale.

It took more than two dozen fire fighters about 25 minutes to bring the Mirams Street blaze under control.

Evacuees from nearby flats were able to return around 11pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
