Fatal smash on slippery Princes Highway

A man has been killed in a crash on the Princes Highway at Oakleigh.

Police said a ute was travelling south in slippery conditions about 4.30 this afternoon when it struck a tree, killing the driver who is yet to be formally identified.

The Princes Highway is closed between Huntingdale Road and Clayton Road.

VicRoads spokesman Andrew Crooks says the closure is expected to be in place for several hours.
