Collingwood great Tony Shaw fears Sunday’s clash between Melbourne and Greater Western Sydney may enter the record books for all the wrong reasons.

He said on Sports Today there was every chance Etihad Stadium would get its worst ever AFL crowd.

Just 12,542 people watched the Western Bulldogs and Fremantle at Docklands in 2003.

The 1990 premiership captain is expecting less on Sunday, if something isn’t done to attract people to the game.

‘I think we might get another record,’ Shaw said on 3AW.

Caroline Wilson agreed.

Shaw and Dwayne Russell said the AFL should consider ‘opening the gates’ for the clash.
