HAPPY NEW HOME, MR LAWRENCE  – There’s nothing like a meal with a view, and Mr Lawrence previously gave us a cracker from the now demolished London Hotel in Port Melbourne. Well the pub is no longer, but Mr Lawrence has found new digs just down the road with the same great vista, and the same great Middle Eastern eats (notes from lunch on Thursday). Scorch and I headed down on a sunny Thursday, and thoroughly enjoyed the Persian lamb meatballs, haloumi and feta borek with date jam, and the spiced minced lamb pizza with mint yoghurt & almonds.
DO YOUR DUMPLING – If, like me, you are a dumpling fan, then sit down. Now. POW Kitchen at the Prince of Wales Hotel has announced All You Can Eat Dumplings every Thursday night. You’ll need at least two people, you’ll hand over just $22.50 each, and then you can chow down on as many dumplings (chicken & cabbage / pork & mushroom / beef), spring rolls, dim sums, fried or steamed rice as you desire.
LUNCH HO FOOK – Feast favourite Lee Ho Fook (pictured above) has introduced a new weekday bar lunch menu that they describe as fast and fun. It’s available Monday to Friday, no reservations – just head in and expect to see options like a mini cumin spiced lamb bun, Shandong style fried chicken, a half road duck with star anise and cinnamon sauce, or their stunning crispy eggplant.
