Federal Health Minister makes concession on shutting down the sale of vapes

There has been progress made in cutting down the rate of young Australians vaping according to Federal Health Minister Mark Butler.

He, however has conceded to Tom Elliott there is a lot of work to be done when it comes to shutting down the sale of vapes.

“We still have a huge job to shut down these stores, and that ultimately is a question of enforcement,” he said.

Mr Butler also noted the government knows they need to get the spending growth rate of the NDIS down to a manageable figure past the eight per cent target.

His comments come as the federal government announces plans to move children with autism diagnoses to a new program called Thriving Hands.

“We’ll be focused on getting to eight per cent right now, but from next year we’ll be focused on getting that growth rate down even further,” he said.
