Tom Elliott has weighed in the federal Coalitions push for nuclear power and the leaking of seven locations across Australia.

He says free electricity could revitalise the Latrobe Valley which was hit hard by closures of various industries and power stations.

“I think people would very quickly embrace nuclear power,” he said.

Federal shadow minister for climate change and energy, Ted O’Brien, says there’s a lot of merit to introduce nuclear energy in areas which previously had coal-fired power stations.

“That’s partly because it’s cheaper, you can use existing infrastructure, transmission lines, you don’t have to rebuild that, you can connect in and use that,” he said.
