Female motorcyclist hit and killed by truck on Boronia Road, Wantirna

A female motorcyclist is dead after she was hit and killed by a truck at Wantirna.

The crash between the truck and the motorbike happened on Boronia Road near the Eastlink on-ramp at about 9am on Thursday.

The motorcyclist was left trapped under the truck and died at the scene.

The air ambulance was called but the case has since been handed to Victoria Police.

The truck driver is assisting police.

The incident follows a horror year on the state’s roads last year – with a record 55 motorcyclists killed in crashes – almost double the number from the previous year.
