Fight to save an ‘iconic’ Brunswick pub

A Brunswick resident has started a petition to save a gaudy pub interior.

The Moreland Hotel’s dining room features a replica of Michelangelo’s statue of David, a dome ceiling painted like a blue sky, a faux Colosseum and a mini Arc de Triomphe.

But after hearing the hotel’s owner, Endeavour Group, was considering stripping the dining room decor and installing more screens, Hannah Garvan started a petition to save the hotel’s interior.

“It’s an icon of Sydney Road,” she told Ross and Russel.

“If you haven’t been there already you really should be coming in and showing your support and checking out this iconic space.”

Ms Garvan’s petition to save the Moreland Hotel’s decor has attracted more than 800 signatures in two days.
