Huge blaze at homemaker centre in Melbourne’s north

Ross and Russ

It took more than 100 firefighters more than two hours to bring a huge blaze at a homemaker centre in Melbourne’s north under control this morning.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at the Homemaker Centre in High Street, Epping at about 5am.

“It looks like it started in Supercheap Auto, which as you can imagine is full of a lot of flammable items. It’s then spread to the Cash Converters next door, and there’s also a tyre shop behind it that may have been impacted,” 3AW reporter on the scene, Pat Mitchell, told Ross and Russel.

“There’s at least 90 firefighters, so it’s quite a big one,” he said.

The fire was brought under control at about 7.45am.
