First fires, now floods: Gippsland community confronts second emergency within days
Only days after bushfires ravaged parts of Gippsland, some of the same region is now bracing for floods.

Tinamba Hotel owner Simon Johnson says fires got within six kilometres of town on Friday and he’s now watching floodwaters rise up the main street.

An emergency warning has been issued for Tinamba, Tinamba West, Newry, Bellbird Corner, Mewburn Park and Riverslea following an earlier evacuation notice. People who have not evacuated are being advised to shelter in the highest location possible. There are also emergency warnings in place for the Macalister River, downstream of Lake Glenmaggie and the Wonnangatta River.
