First Nations people are negotiating a state-wide treaty with the Victorian government

On Wednesday, thousands of people walked the steps of the Victorian Parliament, with Yoorook Justice Commissioner Travis Lovett as a “commitment to change”.
The First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria are currently negotiating a treaty with the state government, which will be the first of its kind in our nation.
Former inaugural co-chair of the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria Marcus Stewart joined 3AW Mornings and said that consecutive governments have “absolutely failed” Aboriginal and Torres-Strait Island people.

“Treaty has to offer economic benefit to all Victorians,” he said.
