FIRST ON 3AW: Andrews government pledges $81m to battle state ice epidemic
The Andrews Government has revealed on 3AW it will spend $81 million dollars to tackle the ongoing ice epidemic sweeping the state.
The extra funding will provide 30 treatment beds in three areas hit hard by the drug:
- Geelong
- Gippsland
- Victoria’s north-east
Premier Daniel Andrews has told 3AW’s Neil Mitchell, the money is part of Labor’s Ice Action plan.
‘There’s also additional funding so that nearly 4000 parents, who are separated from their kids because of their addiction to this drug,’ said Mr Andrews.
‘They’ll be able to get the treatment and counselling support they need as well.’

Touching on gas prices, Andrews has fired back at the Prime Minister’s comments on fracking.
‘I’m very pleased that he has confirmed for the whole Victorian community that he’s a pro-fracking PM,’ Andrews told Neil Mitchell.
