A jewellers in Malvern East has been targeted by thieves for the second time in two years, the offenders making off with earrings, pearl necklaces and other jewels.

This morning Neil Mitchell said Jafari Jewellery in Malvern East has been broken into, after the first incident back in May 2017.

“It’s happened again overnight, front windows smashed, the owner is still trying to figure out what’s been taken,” Neil said.

“And he had increased his security, it’s enough to make you get out of the business.”

Stonnington detectives later confirmed they are investigating after the thieves broke in to the Burke Road store about 2.30am.

They say two masked offenders, one armed with a hammer, smashed their way in and fled with a large quantity of jewellery.

They then fled south along Burke Road in a dark-coloured sedan, possibly a Holden Cruze.
