First-time drink-drivers to lose licence in massive crackdown
First-time drink-drivers will be stripped of their licences in a crackdown by the state government.
Drivers who blow between .05 and .07 will lose their licences for three months under laws introduced into parliament yesterday.
Interlock devices will also be installed in their cars.
Road Minister Luke Donellan told 3AW Breakfast it’s a small price to pay.
“We can’t treat it as a ‘little bit’ over – you’re over,” he said.
“We need to be tough.
“It’s pretty tough, but if you injure or kill somebody – that’s for life.”
